In class, we have been discussing the reading about theories, laws, and hypotheses in an effort to understand the nature of science. The work of several scientists which contributed to the theory of evolution through natural selection is presented in the paper. Think about the theoretical frameworks in which these scientists operated - which guided their ideas and further studies (Fixity of species, Neptunism, Plutonism, Uniformitarianism, Catastrophism). What findings lead to the development of these theories? Given that Darwin and Wallace presented their ideas prior to the work of Mendel, do you think that the theory of evolution through natural selection has changed? Why or why not?
