Today, we completed the Mass and Change lab with burning steel wool, dissolving sugar, and dissolving Alka-Seltzer. STUFF TO THINK ABOUT: Look over the class results and determine if you can find any patterns. For which parts of the lab did the mass of the system remain the same? For which parts of the lab did the mass of the system change? What was happening to the individual particles of matter to explain these results?
HW: Complete the "Mass and Change Summary Sheet". Focus on creating your particle diagrams using dots, circles, or x's. In which parts of the lab did the mass appear to be conserved? In which parts did the mass not appear to be conserved? How can we account for this? State the Law of Conservation of Mass in your own words.
